Three things: a tracker, a SIM card and a tracking plan. Our bundles include all three. The SIM is already inside the tracker, so once the tracker is fitted and your account is ready you can sign in and see the vehicle on the map.
Choose by how you want to fit it. A plug-in tracker goes into the OBD or power socket and needs no tools. A hardwired tracker is wired to the vehicle's power, so it stays out of sight. A battery tracker needs no wiring at all and suits trailers and equipment. If you are unsure, ask us and tell us the vehicle and what you want to know.
Plug-in and battery trackers: yes, no tools needed. Basic hardwired trackers: yes, if you are comfortable with vehicle wiring and follow the instructions. Trackers that read vehicle data or connect extra equipment are best fitted by an auto-electrician or installer.
A plug-in tracker takes about a minute. A hardwired tracker usually takes well under an hour for a competent fitter, a little longer the first time if you do it yourself.
A tracker needs a reasonable view of the sky through the vehicle, so fit it behind plastic trim or the dashboard rather than under metal. Keep it away from large metal plates and heated or metallic-coated glass. The instructions with your tracker show good spots.
Satellite signals do not reach into most garages and car parks, so the position stops updating while the vehicle is inside. The map shows the last known position, and tracking carries on as soon as the vehicle comes back into the open.
Trackers are designed to use very little power and to go to sleep when the vehicle is parked. A healthy battery is not noticeably affected, but a vehicle left unused for many weeks with a weak battery can go flat with or without a tracker.
Yes. A plug-in or battery tracker simply moves with you. A hardwired tracker has to be taken out and fitted again. The plan belongs to the tracker, so it goes with it.
We cannot speak for your insurer or your vehicle maker. Tell your insurer you have fitted a tracker (some ask for it, and some offer a better price), and for a new vehicle check what your warranty says about added electrical equipment.
No. The SIM is already in the tracker, set up before we post it, and the data is part of the plan. There is no separate phone contract and nothing to register.
It is a multi-network SIM: it can connect to several UK networks and picks whichever has a signal, which helps in places where one network is weak.
[Coverage and roaming abroad to be confirmed.] Please ask us before you travel with a vehicle.
In the open, a tracker normally places the vehicle within a few metres. Between tall buildings, under trees or in tunnels it can be less exact or briefly lose the signal. The map shows what the satellites report, so treat it as a close indication, not a surveyed point.
While the vehicle is moving, the map updates frequently and the vehicle glides along its route. When it is parked, the tracker reports less often to save power. The settings differ a little by tracker model.
Most trackers keep recording positions in their memory and send them as soon as the signal returns, so the route fills in afterwards even if it was not live at the time.
They are the mobile networks a tracker talks over. 4G (LTE Cat 1) is the safest long-term choice. LTE-M is a low-power form of 4G with 2G fallback. 2G still works today, but UK operators have announced plans to retire their 2G and 3G networks in the coming years, so we only sell 4G trackers. If you own an older 2G tracker, you can still use it with a plan-only order for as long as the network lasts.
Your vehicles, moving smoothly on an OpenStreetMap map, each with its status: moving, stopped, idling or offline. You can choose a vehicle and follow it as it goes.
Yes. History playback replays a journey on the map, showing the route, the stops and events along the way. Routes can be snapped to the road so they follow the streets.
Ready-made reports for trips and stops, drives and stops, overspeed, low speed, routes, engine hours, fuel fill-ups and drops (with a fuel sensor), service and maintenance, sensor logic, vehicle status and events. You can export to PDF, Excel or CSV, and have reports e-mailed to you on a schedule.
Yes: overspeed, entering or leaving a zone, ignition on or off, power cut, low battery, sensor conditions and maintenance due. Alerts appear in your account, by e-mail and as push notifications. SMS alerts can be added where available; ask us.
Yes. You can draw circles, polygons and routes as geofences and get an alert when a vehicle enters or leaves.
Yes. You can add users and sub-accounts, give them roles, and decide which vehicles each person can see. Two-factor login protects accounts.
If you add a compatible camera next to your tracker, the snapshots it sends through the tracker, for example when an event happens, appear in the photo gallery for that vehicle. It is pictures only: there is no live video or video playback. Contact us to confirm the setup before you order a camera.
There is nothing to install: your account works in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. It is available in English and other languages.
For supported trackers, yes. You can send commands from your account using ready-made Teltonika templates, for example to request the current position, read the device status or switch an output. Every command is kept in a full history. What an output physically does depends on how the tracker was wired.
You, and anyone you give access to. Your account is yours: you add users, give them roles and choose which vehicles they can see.
It is hosted on our own servers, and backed up every day. Our privacy notice explains what we collect and why.
We handle data as set out in our privacy notice. Remember that when you track a vehicle driven by other people, you are the one deciding to collect that data, so UK GDPR gives you duties too. That is not legal advice; see the next answers.
Yes, if you do it fairly: have a clear business reason (safety, scheduling, theft protection), tell your drivers before you start and in writing, only monitor work use, and keep the data only as long as you need it. The Information Commissioner's Office has guidance on monitoring workers. Not legal advice.
Agree a written policy with your drivers about when tracking applies. Many employers only look at the data during working hours, and use the account's access settings so only the people who need to see a vehicle can.
Only if you own the vehicle and the driver knows about it. Secretly tracking another adult can be unlawful, even in a vehicle you own. Be open about it.
You prepay tracking per vehicle, on one of two plans. With SIM included we supply the data SIM, already set up in your tracker; with Own SIM you use your own data SIM. SIM included: £6.00 a month (6 months £36.00, 12 months £61.20, 24 months £108.00). Own SIM: £4.00 a month (1 month £4.00, 6 months £24.00, 12 months £40.80, 24 months £72.00). Prices are before VAT, and VAT at 20% is added at checkout. One order holds one kind of plan, and an account stays on the plan it started with (contact us to change it). There is no contract, no monthly payment and nothing renews automatically. Your plan period starts when the tracker is registered to your account; a plan-only order starts when your payment is confirmed.
By bank transfer. At checkout we show you our bank details, the exact amount including VAT and a payment reference. Quote the reference exactly and your payment is matched to your order automatically.
In your client area you can renew each vehicle, for another term of its plan. We e-mail reminders before a plan ends, so you do not have to remember the date.
When a plan ends there is a short grace period. After that, access to the live map, history and reports stops until the plan is renewed, while the account area for invoices and payment stays open. We do not delete your history when a plan ends: renew, at any time, and you can see it again.
Yes. You can add vehicles from your client area at any time, each with its own plan.
In your client area, with your payment history. Billing there works the same way as at checkout: bank transfer by reference.
You have a 14-day right to cancel after you receive your order; see your 14-day cancellation right. After that, because the plan is prepaid, the plan simply runs to its end date and does not renew.
Often, yes. Choose plan only and tell us the make, model and IMEI when we ask. See compatible devices for what works, and ask us if you are not sure.
Contact us. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, and if a tracker is faulty we repair or replace it, or refund you, as the law requires.
Use the contact page to e-mail or phone us. We aim to reply within one working day.
Tell us the vehicle and what you want to know, and we will point you to the right tracker.
Order a ready-to-use tracker with the SIM already inside. Pay once for the tracker, then prepay tracking for 6, 12 or 24 months. No contract.
